About this policy
This policy explains how we collect and use information about you when you use this site. It also tells you what rights you have over your information.
This site is provided by Life Moments Limited on behalf of Phoenix Life Limited, trading as Standard Life. Standard Life is the data controller — this means we’re responsible for deciding how your information is used. Life Moments acts on our behalf to operate the site.
For information about cookies, please see our Cookie Policy.
Information we collect about you
Information you give us
- How we identify you — we recognise you through your Standard Life sign-in. We don’t store your name, email or other contact details on this site — those are covered by Standard Life’s main privacy notice.
- Tool inputs — figures and details you enter into our calculators and tools (for example, your income, savings, retirement age).
- Profile and progress — goals, preferences, checklists and any content you save to your account.
- AI Coach conversations — the questions you ask and the responses we give, if you use this feature.
- Anything else you choose to share — for example, if you contact us with a question.
Information we collect automatically
- Technical information — details about the device and browser you’re using, and how you got to the site.
- How you use the site — pages you visit, articles you read, tools you use, and time spent on the site. Some of this is collected through cookies — you can choose what you allow in your cookie preferences.
Special category information
Some things you tell us — for example, when describing your circumstances to the AI Coach or in tools that ask about your financial wellbeing — may count as “special category” information under data protection law. This includes information about your health or financial vulnerability.
We will only process this data to retrieve the relevant guidance for you. It will not be processed further or used to update what we know about you. You can choose to delete the personalised information you’ve shared with us at any time in the “Manage data section.”

About the AI Coach
If you use the AI Coach, your questions and our responses are logged and stored. We use this information to:
- Generate the response to your question
- Keep a record of your conversation
- Improve the quality and safety of the feature
- Spot and prevent misuse
The AI Coach is designed to provide information, not advice. It doesn’t make decisions about you that have legal or significant effects, and you can stop using it at any time. We keep AI Coach conversations only for sufficient time to enable us to comply with legal requirements, before they are securely deleted; See How long we keep your information.
Who we share your information with
We share your information with:
- Service providers who help us run and improve the site — for example, hosting providers, error monitoring providers and analytics providers. They process your information under contract and only for purposes we’ve agreed.
- Other companies in the Standard Life Group, where this is needed to provide you with a joined-up service.
- Regulators, law enforcement or other authorities, where we are required to do so by law or to protect our rights.
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for third-party marketing.
Sending information outside the UK
We aim to process your information within the UK and the European Economic Area (EEA). Where information needs to be transferred outside the UK — for example, where one of our service providers operates from another country — we put appropriate safeguards in place, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or equivalent contractual protections approved under UK data protection law.
How long we keep your information
We keep your information only as long as we need to:
- Tool inputs, profile and progress — while you have them saved to your account.
- AI Coach conversations — for up to 7 years from your last interaction.
- Technical and usage information — for a limited period, after which we either delete it or keep it in a form that no longer identifies you.
When we no longer need your information, we’ll delete it or make it anonymous.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that’s inaccurate or incomplete
- Delete your information in certain circumstances
- Restrict or object to how we use your information in certain circumstances
- Move your information to another service (“data portability”)
- Withdraw your consent at any time, where we’re relying on consent to process your information
You can also ask not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing where it has a legal or similarly significant effect on you. We don’t currently make decisions of this kind on this site.
